The day that a new little life enters your world is another beautiful transition in your life. It is a huge responsibility to guide this little one throughout his/her journey and there are various people that will happily take an interest in the child and assist parents along the way. A Naming Day recognises family members, Godparents, Mentors or Guardians and it is a wonderful opportunity to involve those closest to the child.
Lovely readings, special rituals, beautiful personal words and visual effects all merge together to form a uniquely memorable day, significantly impacting for the blessing of the birth of a child. Whether there is only the one child or even four, Jean welcomes the opportunity to participate in this day of recognition in your child’s life.
It is natural for a parent to feel proud of the love they provide to their child and the willingness they share to ensure their child receives the security of a continuing loving relationship. Following the ceremony the cutting of a cake usually occurs and a party mode is adopted. Children take advantage of this time to play amongst themselves at the venue and enjoy the fresh air.
The Naming Day can be conducted at your own home wherever it is most convenient perhaps in the backyard, patio or verandah. It can also take place on a mountain, by a lake, in a park, or beach which may need Council permission prior to the event or even in the grounds of a restaurant or club. As with any external venue, there will need to be a backup plan on the off-chance of inclement weather.
Naming Days can occur at any age and if carried out in an especially meaningful way it can even make quite a unique impression on an older child.
